Flagstaff Academy seeks a full time Technology Teacher for grades 6-8. This position will provide experiential instruction that synthesizes science, technology, engineering, and math in a hands-on, lab-based setting. The position requires a passionate, engaging, lifelong learner to lead students through the engineering design model. The position requires close collaboration
with the Middle School team to ensure that there is a meaningful integration with the Core Knowledge sequence.



Requirements

Qualifications sought:
We seek a talented educator who can inspire students and teachers. The successful candidate is expected to deliver dynamic classroom experiences with high educational expectations and accountability.

Responsibilities include:
● Design instruction for mixed age and mixed ability technology and engineering classes
● Work collaboratively with computer science teachers in grades K-8 to align vertical content
● Work collaboratively with middle school staff members and the Essentials (elective) team
● Lead an Advisory class and build relationships with students for the duration of their middle school career
● Uphold safety expectations for students
● Build partnerships with community technology and engineering organizations
● Other duties as assigned

Specifically, we seek:
● Experience with engineering, computer science, cybersecurity, networking, and robotics
● High degree of competence with Google Apps for Education
● Good organizational and interpersonal skills
● The ability to work collaboratively and creatively
● Excellent communication skills
● Effective instructional delivery techniques
● Willingness to work closely with families
● Technology and engineering content expertise
● Ability to form positive relationships with adolescents

Job Skills and Qualifications:
1. Current Colorado teaching license preferred
2. Ability to interpret and communicate student data
3. Strong systems orientation and commitment to follow-through.
4. Experience working with secondary students

Who We Are:
Flagstaff is a PreK-8 public charter school with an onsite pre-school. In operation since 2005, Flagstaff Academy is now in its 16th year of operation. In 2005-2006, we had 216 students and 23 faculty and staff. Currently, we have approximately 850 students and 95 faculty and staff (300% student growth). As a semi-autonomous school of choice, Flagstaff Academy is
operated by a board of directors made up of parents and other community members. We are governed by a contract between the members of the charter school community and the local school district. Charter schools in Colorado enjoy more flexibility than district public schools and are held accountable to the Colorado Department of Education and their authorizer. For
Flagstaff Academy, this is the St. Vrain Valley School District.

About Flagstaff Academy Charter School

Flagstaff Academy’s mission supporting science and technology is visible throughout the building. Every classroom has a 70” interactive touchscreen display that connects students to rich Core Knowledge content. The middle school is a 1:1 Google Chromebook program where every student is issued a Chromebook to take home throughout their Flagstaff Academy career.
In addition, Flagstaff Academy has over 320 additional Chromebooks for use throughout the school to enable any classroom to become an instant computer lab when needed. Flagstaff Academy’s K-8 technology program includes computer literacy, engineering, robotics, cybersecurity, and computer programming. Flagstaff Academy has a dedicated elementary
science lab that supplements the Core Knowledge sequence. The middle school science program hosts robust science electives such as Advanced Labs, Forensics, Mythbusters, and Food Science. Our students routinely place highly at the Corden-Pharma Regional STEM Fair. Employees, volunteers, and consultants at Flagstaff Academy work together to fulfill the Flagstaff Academy Mission, and are expected to follow all Flagstaff Academy policies and procedures. Pay Range

Pay for this position is according to the Teacher Salary Scale on our Employment Page.
